Eastern Panhandle Rankings

Postby Wile E. Coyote » Tue Dec 17, 2024 2:17 pm

Eastern Panhandle for me is everything on this side of the mountain that includes the counties of Morgan, Berkeley and Jefferson. These are very early rankings. I know there will probably be some guys hitting the mats soon coming from football that will change these rankings. I'll rank them when I see them on the mat and not before. Also none of the coaches has listed any results from the Hedgesville Duals so I can't use that yet. That would help greatly as there were regional matchups there. These rankings are based on Elite Opener, Max Horz Inv, and Penn Manor Inv. There are a number of places where I have to just go with a gut feeling. Team Rankings Tournament
Different Tournaments yield different results. My rankings for tournament teams is based on a tournament only including these 7 teams. I don't predict bonus points or upsets I give points based on the seeds of the wrestlers with a #1 seed getting 7 points, #2 getting 6 points and so on. Obviously not a perfect way to do it but it's been a pretty good predictor for many years for me.
1. Washington 63 points
2. Berkeley Springs 61 points
3. Martinsburg 59 points
4. Hedgesville 53 points
5. Musselman 47 points
6. Jefferson 46 points
7. Spring Mills 37 points

Team Rankings Duals
1. Washington
2. Berkeley Springs
3. Martinsburg
4. Hedgesville
5. Musselman
6. Jefferson
7. Spring Mills

As I said before some of these could be wrong since no one put the Hedgesville Duals results on here. Anyone with any info from that let me know. Any remarks or anything don't bother with my email, I rarely check it, post it on here. I'm going to check with someone I've known for a long time now that he's back in the game with a relative wrestling he may be able to get me some of the missing results. Please ask your coaches to post there results on here from the duals and this coming weekends duals.
Stop me if you've heard this before: A sentinel, an Appleman, an Eagle, a Cardinal, a Bulldog, and a tribe of Indians all walk into a Cougars Den which is filled with wrestling mats. To find out what happens show up at the Jefferson Duals this coming weekend at Jefferson High School.

This is what I found for Martinsburg’s dual record at Hedgesville Duals. They went 10-0.
vs. Loudon Valley (VA): 53-16
vs. Jefferson: 52-23
vs. Hedgesville: 44-34
vs. Moorefield: 45-24
vs. Wheeling Central
vs. Frankfort: 53-16
Catholic: 59-15
vs. Clarke County: 65-6
Vs. John Champe (VA): 54-29
vs. Grafton: 72-12

They also went 3-0 at their home quad on Tuesday.
vs. Central Woodstock (VA): 60-
24
vs. East Hardy: 66-18
vs. John Handley (VA): 36-33

They’re 13-0 so far in duals. But it could certainly change this weekend at Jefferson Duals. That’s a tough one.

Panhandler 35. Thanks for the results. Martinsburg is looking very tough and I've heard a rumor that they have a guy coming in from Football that certainly could have them rising in the team rankings. I wasn't at the quad so don't know if he is wrestling yet. Makes the JIT this weekend even more exciting. Speaking of which I have a friend who for years put Hedgesvilles results on here all the time. He's back due to a him having a relative wrestling high school now. He's going to be at the JIT early both days and any teams that would like him to post their results on here he's willing to do it free of charge. He would just need to copy the results prior to wrestling starting or after because during he's going to be too busy. He'll definitely be too distracted during wrestling Saturday when his Nittany Lions football team is also playing. Again Thank You and Good Luck to you and yours at the JIT this weekend. Good Luck to all Eastern Panhandle wrestlers and teams this weekend.

Martinsburg should have a few big hammers back from football. About 250 to 300 pounds worth.

I am glad to hear about Hedgesville getting an addition to their staff. I can't even find a schedule for Hedgesville.
The state tournament qualification process needs to be improved first and foremost.
