Shady Spring High School will be hosting the 2025 Larry Snuffer Slam on Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at Shady Spring High School, 300 Hinton Rd, Shady Spring, WV 25918. This will be a 12 team pools tournament allowing each wrestler to get 5 matches if each team has a wrestler at that weight.
JV wrestlers will be used to fill available openings on other team’s rosters. Each team will supply their own scorekeeper and those scorecards will be used for advancement purposes. Weigh-ins/Skin Checks will be at 9:00 AM and wrestling will begin at 10:30 AM. Wrestling will be done on 4 mats in two adjacent gyms. Only short breaks to allow the officials and coaches to eat and to calculate the advancement pool matches will be taken.
The entry fee is $200.00 with a check required at weigh in made payable to: Shady Spring High School Wrestling. A hospitality room will be provided and affordable concessions will also be available.
Teams will be assigned to one of 3 pools of 4 teams. The winning teams of each pool will wrestle, runner ups of each pool will wrestle and so on. For tie breakers the criteria will be most pins, most tech falls, most major decisions.
Awards will be given for: First, Second, and Third Place Teams, and Outstanding Wrestlers from 106-144 and from 150-285.

Teams kept their own scores of the duals and I was only informed of which team won each dual for advancement purposes.

Schools that host tournaments charge an entry fee. They should also charge deposits.

I miss the days when all the scores and results were sent in and posted on wvmat. I understand that people are to busy to send in the results nowadays but it be really nice for the people out of state that like to keep up with everything.

I agree, we have Facebook now where I try and follow all of the teams to see what they post. Plus track wrestling and Flo. Maybe it’s just me but it seems like each year less results get posted.

It doesn’t take that much effort. For tournaments you can typically copy and paste a link and for duals it’s 10-15 minutes to enter results (if that) per dual. If the coach is too busy then assign reporting to a parent or staff member. I’ve definitely been disappointed by the amount of scores that don’t get posted recently. And MS is much much worse. Next to no one sends results in. Hopefully this changes in the future.

Our team's coach NEVER posts results. I took it upon myself this year and recording the results during the matches and submitted them here. I agree that it helps promote the sport. I honestly believe having the results online helped several of our kids get better tournament seeds and rankings throughout the year. Rankings aren't a big deal, but getting seeded higher in tournaments definitely helps the individual wrestlers.
