State Team Duals

Postby TheDevilsAdvocate » Sat Jan 25, 2025 6:03 pm

Have the schools that will be in the State Team Duals been determined and if so have they been published?

It took some digging, but here's what I've found so far. Note that the order in which the teams are listed does not necessarily mean that's how they finished (champion, runner-up).

AAA
Region 1 University, John Marshall
Region 2 Musselman, Washington
Region 3 Woodrow Wilson, George Washington
Region 4 Will be determined Tuesday, January 28

AA/A
Region 1 Oak Glen, Keyser
Region 2 Braxton County, Roane County
Region 3 Herbert Hoover, Independence
Region 4 Point Pleasant, Ripley

Later today I will post these teams in the Regional Dual Team Championship Qualifers section along the left side of the front page.

I'll also post them on the state duals page:

Thank you. Is it reasonable to assume Region 1 has to include University and Region 4 will have Parkersburg?

I don't fully understand how the teams "qualify" but that's 2 of the top team this year and last so that seems logical.

My good friend "TrueSouthFanInLewisburg told me that AAA Region 1 will be represented by University and John Marshall. This will be JM's first appearance to this extravaganza.

For trivial purposes, Martinsburg has a team that would have qualified in AAA region 2 but opted to remain with their traditional schedule.

Good luck to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The state tournament qualification process needs to be improved first and foremost.

Yes, you assume correctly on University, and Parkersburg is pretty much a lock, although it's not official until Tuesday.

If I'm not mistaken, the top 4 regional tournament teams from the previous year meet in qualifier quads (with the exception of AAA Region 1). This year, Ripley moved to AA and Winfield moved to AAA, and Ripley wrestled in the AA/A Region 4 qualifier.

AAA Region 2 teams have been confirmed, thanks to Coach Codie Gustines, and AAA Region 1 teams have been added to my original post now, thanks to Coach Ken Maisel!

I was trying to post results in the scores section, but my WiFi isn’t cooperating.

As far as I know there’s no streaming.

Semifinals
Parkersburg vs Woodrow
South vs University
Consis
John Marshall vs Musselman
George Washington vs (Charles) Washington
(I think Washington HS is named after George Washington’s brother Charles Washington who Charles Town is named after.)

I would like to thank you guys for updating the scores during the duals. It’s nice to have that for our state workers that love seeing how everything going. We really do appreciate.
